How To Find Network Security Settings On HP ENVY 4500

My new ENVY 4500 says it is connected wirelessly and added as a network printer.  Everything checks out ok but when I try to print, the document is not sent to the printer.  I have tried the HP Print and Scan, it finds no problem.  My husband's computer prints to this printer with no problem but mine does not.  We are on the same network.

  • I have also tried turning off anti-virus and firewall programs, and everything else that could be connected wirelessly, but no success.
  • If it matters, upon installation I got these 2 messages:
Error:  automation server can not create an object.
  • Also the HP Assistant gives a 'string not found' error message.
  • Finally, I see the wireless printer in my network connections, the signal is excellent but when I click 'connect', it ask for the security key but will not accept the correct key

From what you have described, it sounds like a software issue rather than a network issue. I suggest uninstalling the software and reinstalling it again.
Let's perform a quick test first before I get a head of myself.

Print from the Printer Properties in the Device and Printers. Open Device and Printers, right click on your printer and choose Printer Properties. In the General tab, select Print test page. This will bypass the spooler, and test the driver and the network connection.

If Find Network Security Settings, test page does not work let me know and we will go from there. If the test page prints, we can proceed with uninstalling and reinstalling the software.

Tips for setting up and using a networked printer
Use the following tips to set up and use a networked printer:
  • When the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer is launched, the printer searches for wireless routers, and then lists the detected network names on the printer display.
  • If your computer is connected to a Virtual Private Network (VPN), you need to disconnect from the VPN before you can access any other device on your network, including the printer.
