    Change network settings

From the printer control panel, you can set up and manage your printer wireless connection and perform a variety of network management tasks. This includes viewing and changing network settings, restoring network defaults, and turning the wireless function on or off.

Network settings are provided for your convenience. However, unless you are an advanced user, you should not change some of these settings (such as the link speed, IP settings, default gateway, and firewall settings).

To print the network configuration page

    1. From the Home screen, touch (Wireless) and then touch ( Settings ).
    2. Touch Print Reports and then touch Network Configuration Page.

    HP Officejet 4650 IP Settings

The default IP setting for the IP settings is Automatic, which sets the IP settings automatically. If you are an advanced user and want to use different settings (such as the IP address, subnet mask, or the default gateway), you can change them manually.

Be careful when manually assigning an IP address. If you enter an invalid IP address during the installation, your network components cannot connect with the printer.

To avoid errors, first let the printer join the network and obtain an IP address automatically. After the subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS address settings are configured, you can change the printer IP address to a manual setting.
    1. From the Home screen, touch (Wireless) and then touch ( Settings ).
    2. Touch Advanced Settings.
    3. Touch IP Settings.
    4. A message appears warning that changing the IP address removes the printer from the network.
    5. Touch OK to continue.
Automatic is selected by default. To change the settings manually, touch Manual, and then enter the appropriate information for the following settings:
    • IP Address
    • Subnet Mask
    • Default Gateway
    • DNS Address
    6. Enter your changes, and then touch Apply.

    Copy documents

The Copy menu on the printer display allows you to easily select number of copies and color or black and white for copying on plain paper. You can also easily access advanced settings, such as changing the paper type and size, adjusting the darkness of the copy, and resizing the copy

    Print

Most print settings are automatically handled by the software application. Change the settings manually only when you want to change print quality, print on specific types of paper, or use special features. As with text printing, using the duplexer on a graphics document slowed the printing speed of the OfficeJet 4650. Our six-page graphics document printed in a little more than 4 minutes. The wait in between pages could be as much as 17 seconds while an “ink is drying” message appeared on the LCD.

    Fax

You can use the printer to send and receive faxes, including color faxes. You can schedule faxes to be sent at a later time and set up phone book contacts to send faxes quickly and easily to frequently used numbers. From the printer control panel, you can also set a number of fax options, such as resolution and the contrast between lightness and darkness on the faxes you send
