Changing Wireless LAN Connection Method
Canon PIXMA G4200 Wireless Printer Setup follow either procedure below to change wireless LAN connection method (infrastructure or wireless direct).
• For Windows:
  1. Use the Setup CD-ROM or follow the instructions on the Canon website to redo setup.
  2. Perform settings on the Network Settings screen on IJ Network Device Setup Utility.
  3. Before you perform settings using IJ Network Device Setup Utility, turn on Easy wireless connect mode on the printer following the procedure below.
  1. Make sure printer is turned on.
  2. Press Setup button. The Setup menu screen appears.
  3. Select Wireless LAN setup and press OK button.
  4. Select Easy WL connect and press OK button. Follow instructions on your smartphone or tablet.
  5. If message saying setup is completed appears, press OK button.
• For Mac OS:
Follow the instructions on the Canon website to redo setup.

Canon PIXMA G4200 Printing Network Settings

Use the operation panel to print the printer PIXMA G4200 current network settings.
  1. Make sure printer is turned on.
  2. Load two sheets of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper.
  3. Press Setup button. The Setup menu screen appears.
  4. Select Device settings and press OK button.
  5. Select LAN settings and press OK button.
  6. Select Print LAN details and press OK button.

Changing WPA/WPA2 Detailed Settings
  • This function is not available depending on the printer you are using.
  • To change the wireless network settings of the printer, connect the printer and the computer with a USB cable temporarily. 
  • If you modify the wireless network settings of the computer over wireless connection without USB connection, your computer may not be able to communicate with the machine after modifying the settings.
The example screenshots in this section refer to the WPA detailed settings.
  1. Start up IJ Network Tool.
  2. Select printer in Printers:. When the printer is connected to the computer with a USB cable temporarily, select the printer with "USBnnn" (where "n" is a number) appearing in the Port Name column.
  3. Select Configuration... on Settings menu.
  4. Click Wireless LAN tab.
  5. Select Use WPA/WPA2 in Encryption Method: and click Configuration.... The WPA/WPA2 Details screen is displayed. If encryption is not set to the printer, the Authentication Type Confirmation screen is displayed. Go to step 7.
  6. Click Change Settings....
  7. Check client authentication type and click Next>.
  8. Enter passphrase and click Next>.
  9. Click Finish.
  • Enter the passphrase set to the wireless router. The passphrase should be a string of 8 to 63 alphanumeric characters or a 64-digit hexadecimal value.
  • If you do not know the wireless router passphrase, refer to the instruction manual provided with the wireless router or contact its manufacturer.
  • The dynamic encryption method is selected from either TKIP (basic encryption) or AES (secure encryption) automatically. If Auto is not displayed on Dynamic Encryption Type:, select either TKIP(Basic Encryption) or AES(Secure Encryption)

Canon PIXMA G4200 Changing Settings in Direct Connection

• This function is not available depending on the printer you are using.
• Depending on the printer you are using, "Direct connection" may be referred to as "Access point mode"
• You can use this function only when you are using a computer compatible with the wireless LAN.
  1. Start up IJ Network Tool.
  2. Select Set up printer's direct connection... on Settings menu. The Direct Connection Setup of the Printer screen is displayed.
  3. Check displayed message and click Next>.
  4. If User Account Control screen is displayed, click Yes. The Select Printer screen is displayed. If only one printer is available for changing the settings, the Direct Connection Setup of the Printer screen is displayed. In this case, go to step 6.
  5. Select printer from the Select Printer screen and click OK. The specified SSID (access point name), encryption method, and password are displayed on the Select Printer screen.
  6. Change encryption method or password as necessary.
  7. Click Settings.
The setting information is sent to the printer.

Canon PIXMA G4200 Reset Setting

Select this menu from Device settings in Setup menu.
Returns all settings you made to the printer back to the default. However, some data may not be changed, depending on the current usage state of your printer. Depending on the setting item, it is necessary to perform connection or setup again after you have returned the setting back to the default.
  1. Web service setup : Returns the Web service settings back to the default.
  2. LAN settings : Returns the LAN settings back to the default.
  3. Telephone no. data :  Returns the telephone/fax number settings to default.
  4. Setting data : Returns the settings such as the paper size, media type, or other setting items other than the LAN settings or the fax settings back to the default.
  5. Device info sending : Returns only the device information sending settings back to the default.
  6. FAX settings : Returns the fax settings back to the default. Disconnect the telephone line from the printer before you return this setting item back to the default. After resetting, perform setup again as necessary.
  7. All data : Sets all settings you made to the printer back to the default. The administrator password specified by  Remote UI or IJ Network Device Setup Utility reverts to the default setting.
  8. After resetting, perform setup again as necessary.
• You cannot set the following setting items back to the default:
• The language displayed on the LCD
• The current position of the print head
• CSR (Certificate Signing Request) for encryption method (SSL/TLS) setting
• The country or region selected for Country or region

You can delete the registered user's name or telephone number following the procedure below.
  1. Displays Unit TEL no. registr. or Displays Unit name registr.. Setting Sender Information
  2. Delete all the numbers and the letters by pressing the Back button.
  3. Press the OK button after deleting all the numbers and the letters.
ON is selected for Device info sending on Dev. user settings after you have reset the setting to send
device information. However, the printer does not send device information. Select OFF to disable the function to send device information
